People have such good ideas.
I remember my own school lunches as Vegemite and cheese sandwich for lunch and two homemade biscuits for morning tea with the odd trip to the tuck shop thrown in. No drink bottle, in fact no lunch box, just a couple of plastic sandwich bags. This was exactly the same for every day of primary school and changed in high school to a tuna and cheese sandwich for lunch on the days I actually took lunch and no morning tea.
I have stored all of the lunch box posts over the last few years in my brain with visions of making great things for the Little Man this year.

Foiled! All he wants is a Pecks Anchovette paste sandwich, everyday. Morning tea he leaves up to me but watermelon and a cheese stringer would keep him happy, everyday. Seriously.
At least his Mickey Mouse lunch bag come homes home completely empty, so really I can't complain.
So how are your lunch boxes looking in 2012.
Linking up with Jess from Diary of a SAHM for I blog on Tuesdays. Check it out, we are an awsome bunch.
So thankful I only do lunchboxes one day per week at the moment! My daughter has a pretty similar thing most days. I tried adding zucchini slice instead of a sandwich one day, and she accused me of "not giving her any lunch". Lunch for my Miss 3 = sandwich.
ReplyDeleteOh I know about that! Any variation and I get a barrage of complaints from the moment I pick him up! I even got it when I sent cake for morning tea!!
DeleteWe are pretty boring with lunches, I try to my up the kids sandwich fillings every day, but it's not always possible.
ReplyDeleteI wish he would go for something different! It's plain butter or Pecks. Nothing else.
DeleteI had a smile on my face reading this post! I would love to make my kids all sorts of healthy wraps, slices and frittatas...all they want is devon and tomato sauce !! Aggghhh......
ReplyDeleteI know! SO frustrating!!
DeleteI still hate sandwiches to this day because they were ALL I ever got. But my daughter loves them. I sometimes worry that my little girl is not easting very much variation- but at the end of the day, I figure if she is eating something reasonably healthy it's all good :)
ReplyDeleteI am not sure that all that Pecks paste is too healthy, at this point I am just ignoring that!!
DeleteI try to mix things up for my kids... mainly because I had peanut butter sandwiches that sat in my schoolbag for hours in the heat when I was a kid. How I didn't end up with perpetual food poisoning is beyond me!
ReplyDeleteI know I think we are all trained to worry a bit too much now!
DeleteIf my son had his way, he'd have a cheese, tomato and cucumber sandwich everyday. But seeing that my mum gave me the same thing every day, I'm not going to do the same thing to him! Mind you, I am getting empty lunchboxes every day, so am one happy mummy (so far)!

Yes I think the empty lunchbox is the best guide by far!
